Welcome to The Blackboard Bistro!

The Blackboard Bistro is a bijou French restaurant in Dublin’s historic Georgian Quarter right on the edge of picturesque Merrion Square. Considered to be one of the very best French restaurants in Dublin serving honest, rustic French cuisine. The National Gallery of Ireland is located opposite the restaurant and the American College, the old home of Oscar Wilde, is a few yards along the road. Trinity College’s Lincoln Green gate is just around the corner from the restaurant and their close proximity to the Mont Clare, Davenport, Alexander and Merrion Hotel’s makes it a great location for dining out on a city visit. The Blackboard Bistro serves lunch Tuesday to Friday and Dinner Tuesday to Saturday.

Pierre Heyraud demonstrates a cool mastery of the craft of cooking with his food in The Blackboard Bistro. Just look at the way he knows that pommes Sarladaise works so well with rib-eye steak. See how he judges the touch of smoked paprika with the white beans cooked with chorizo, peppers and garlic that comes with pork belly. Admire how he brings forth the just-right nature of the cauliflower purée with some Clare Island salmon. M. Heyraud’s food works because it is well balanced and expressive, it is apposite and appealing, and the clarity of the food suits the charm of the pretty, funky basement room.- Mc Kenna Guide Best Irish Restaurants 2014
